Defensible Space: Full Zone 0–2 Clearance

California law (PRC 4291) requires 100 feet of defensible space around homes in the State Responsibility Area. We clear all three CAL FIRE zones — including the Zone 0 ember-resistant band — to county standards and document every zone so you can prove compliance. In San Diego County, Zones 1 and 2 are 50 feet each.

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle the new Zone 0 (first 5 feet)?

Yes — we clear vegetation, mulch, and debris from the 0–5 ft ember-resistant zone.

Do you provide documentation for insurance?

Yes — before/after photos with every job, ready to send to your insurer or the county.

What are the defensible-space zones?

CAL FIRE splits defensible space into three zones: Zone 0, the Ember-Resistant Zone (0–5 ft); Zone 1, the Lean, Clean & Green Zone; and Zone 2, the Reduce Fuel Zone. In San Diego County, Zones 1 and 2 are 50 feet each, for 100 feet total. Some areas (such as parts of Riverside County) follow the state 30/70-ft split — check your local rules.
